Orinda is a small town. It feels and looks like a small town. It is quiet and charming and lovely. If spending a brisk fall morning on the soccer field, followed by a stroll through the farmer’s market with a possible stop in the Orinda Park on Saturday morning sounds appealing, then you will probably enjoy the simplicity of Orinda. In my opinion, Orinda offers the best of both worlds. It is a charming and beautiful town conveniently positioned minutes away from neighboring cities that offer more entertainment (and congestion) when and if desired. Orinda is nestled between bustling San Francisco, super chic Berkeley, and the slightly more urban cities of Lafayette and Walnut Creek. Your days in Orinda might be spent at the Orinda community center which provides an array of classes and camps for people of all ages, or at the landmark Orinda movie theater which shows the latest movies while still taking you back in time. A few of my personal favorite special events include the 4th of July parade, the annual Orinda Idol singing competition, and summer concerts in the park. These events add to Orinda’s simple, small town feel and contribute to Orinda’s community. I love the simple and quiet life of Orinda, but if this sounds like Borinda to you, you might not love it here as much as I do. |
