 Many people choose Orinda for the schools. It is absolutely one of the reasons I did. I am thrilled my children have the opportunity to learn here. If you are on this website, chances are you have already done your research about the public education system in Orinda and know that it is phenomenal! The leading National API scores and outstanding academic statistics speak for themselves. In my opinion, however, education is even more than reading, writing and arithmetic. It encompasses character building, the arts, sports/fitness programs, and other activities all aimed at creating well-rounded people who will be happy and productive members of society. I assure you, as a one time student and now a parent of children in this system, it is the collective desire of the community to develop well rounded people in addition to academically successful people. Even with the California budget crisis, our children have the opportunity to learn more than just the standards partly because of the fundraising efforts of the Educational Foundation of Orinda (EFO). EFO has successfully raised monies to make sure our students have every opportunity to learn. In addition, many parents and other community members volunteer their time in the classrooms and as members of the school and EFO boards. This collective support helps strengthen the education of our kids. If you choose to live in Orinda because of the schools, you will not be disappointed. |
